- Reading
- Grip
- *For the left hand*, the club should run diagonnally across the **base** of the fingers (i.e., avoid placing in the palm). The left thumb should be right of the center on the handle.
- *For the right hand*, the handle runs from the middle portion of the right index to the base of the pinky. The right hand 'v' should point up to the armpit.
- The club should be held lightly to allow for plenty of wrist freedom
- Address
- For most clubs, the ball is in the center of your body. It moves forward in your stance toward your front foot as clubs get longer.
- Arms hang just a hair outside of being completely vertical
- Hands are always the same distance from your thoughts no matter which club is being used.
- The butt of the club should point toward your belt line, slight left of center for me
- Stance
- Inside of feet align with outside of shoulders
- Distribute weight evenly on the feet from the heal to the toe
- Bend at the hips
- Knees are slightly flexed
- Back Swing
- Take away the club so that midway through the backswing, the **club should be parallel with stance line** by swinging with shoulders, arms, and hands
- The right elbow points to ground; all in all, your arms make a triangle with the base parallel to the ground
- Weight shifts to right knees but knee remains flexed
- Left shoulder tucks under chin
- Clubface is parallel to left forearm
- Left heel on ground
- On down swing shift weight to left side and let arms “fall” downward in front my chest
- Practice
- A proper group should be able to:
- Swing back and forth without the club moving
- Be used for hitting multiple chips in a row without needed to re-grip
